The Red Narrative is a 40-page accordion-fold zine tracing the 3,000-year semiotic evolution of Red—from primordial fire and imperial branding to its modern solidification as China’s national monument.

Conceived as a kinetic art object for the 2026 Lunar New Year, the work unfurls to reclaim Red from the state and return it to the individual. Part historical genealogy, part visceral manifesto, the zine explores "semantic overflow": the moment a symbol becomes too heavy to hold and must be spilled. By stripping away layers of political ceremony, the narrative re-centers the color within the biological pulse—the skin, the membranes, and the "wildfire" of the human body.
